Trying to settle on just five stellar reads for the entire year seems unfathomable, but we did it. We started with 2010’s female literary darlings Bender and Egan, threw in the pro-athlete penned guide to roller derby, and finished with two musical memoirs, one by a nostalgic journalist (Sheffield) and one by a nostalgic, and prolific, artist (Smith).
