Conya Doss
A Poem for Ms. Doss (NuMecca)

In the grand tradition of the schoolteacher tuned musician (well, Bob Pollard and Gene Simmons come to mind), this Cleveland native joins the ranks as a special needs teacher whom seems poised on the brink of stardom.
It is always wonderful to hear someone like Conya, who can really sing! Ms. Doss' impressive vocals are emphasized on top of subtle musical accompaniment (with the exception of the trippy sitar on "Meantime") on this 15-song release. Standout tracks among these soulful, jazzy grooves include "You Really Hurt Me," a cover of "(You Are My) Starship," and the first single, "Coffee." Great music for "Zonin', Lonin' in (Your) Dome."
