Starting with this issue, a selected artist or musician responds to a Venu reader’s dilemma. And who better to be the first advice-giver than Nora O’Connor, a sweet-voiced singer-songwriter who’s also a bartender, ordained reverend, and doula (a non-medical professional who provides support to birthing women)? A native of Chicago’s south side, she released her debut full-length recording Til the Dawn (Bloodshot) last year. — A.D.
Q: How can I keep myself motivated to work on my art and find inspiration when I get stuck? — Tiffanie Myers, 24, Ft. Myers, Florida
A: Expression doesn’t have to be limited to art. Live life! Every expression can be artful. Turn yourself on to some new music, cook yourself and your friends something healthy and fabulous, and dress up funky for no reason. Stay motivated in all aspects of your life and you’ll see the creative juice just flow out of ya.
